By what criteria should I choose oil for gasoline / diesel engines?

The basic criterion for choosing the right oil, both for gasoline and diesel engines, is the prescribed performance specification of the car manufacturer, which is given in the vehicle manual. In case of doubt, you can contact our technical department at technicky.servis@automax-group.com.

Can I mix oils from different manufacturers when topping up?

Yes. From a technical point of view, all motor oils, whether fully synthetic, synthetic-based or mineral, can be mixed with each other without restriction. Above all, the oil must meet the performance specification required by the engine manufacturer, ideally it is also advisable to use oil with the same viscosity.

What is the change interval for a particular oil?

The oil change interval is not determined by the oil manufacturer, but is always prescribed by the vehicle manufacturer. The oil manufacturer is responsible for ensuring that a particular oil meets the technical specifications required for a particular type of vehicle. One product can therefore meet different replacement intervals, mainly depending on the required specifications in different types of vehicles.

Can engine oil after a shorter period of use be in worse condition than the same oil in another car after more mileage?

Yes, it is possible. Oil degradation does not depend only on the number of kilometers driven, they play a role driving style (sports driving at high revs means more stress on the oil than driving with low fuel consumption), length of journeys (short journeys and city driving mean faster oil degradation than long-distance driving), the frequency of oil topping up (the greater the oil consumption and the more frequent topping up, the better the condition of the oil filling at the end of the replacement interval). The result can then be a situation where the oil with a lower mileage is in worse condition than the oil with a higher mileage.
